FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
1
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a form of natural alternative medicine based on a holistic approach to health. In holistic healing, the focus is on healing the whole body, including mental, emotional, and physical spheres, rather than just targeting specific diseases. The key concepts of homeopathy include:
-
Law of Similars: this principle states that "like cures like." A substance (whether of mineral, plant, or animal origin) that causes specific symptoms in a healthy body can cure similar symptoms in an ill person. The healing is not done by the remedy itself, but by the reaction of the organism to the remedy.
-
Potentization: homeopathic remedies are created through a multi-step procedure of diluting the original substance in a solvent and succussing it after each dilution. This process enhances the healing properties of the substance while eliminating its toxic effects, enabling the use of the Law of Similars safely.
-
Individualized Treatment: homeopathic treatment takes a personalized approach to medicine, considering all symptoms present in a person, even those not typically associated with the disease, to achieve holistic wellness. This is because homeopathy views each illness as affecting the whole organism, not just specific organs or systems.

What conditions can homeopathy heal?
Homeopathy can be effective in a wide variety of acute and chronic illnesses and conditions. Here is just a short list of examples:
-
Acute illnesses: colds, flu, ear infections, and sore throats. It is often used for injuries such as sprains and bruises due to its ability to promote healing and reduce pain and inflammation.
-
Chronic conditions: chronic ailments like arthritis, asthma, eczema, and migraines have been managed using homeopathic remedies. These treatments aim to reduce the frequency and intensity of episodes.
-
Stress and anxiety: homeopathic remedies are widely utilized to manage symptoms of stress and anxiety, helping to balance emotional states.
-
Depression: homeopathy considers the emotional and psychological aspects of a person, providing remedies that can help manage mild to moderate depression.
-
Menstrual and menopausal disorders: homeopathy offers treatment options for various female health issues, including premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menstrual irregularities, and symptoms associated with menopause.
-
Behavioral and developmental disorders: homeopathy can be particularly beneficial for children, treating conditions like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sleep disturbances, and anxiety.
-
Digestive disorders: Homeopathy can help alleviate symptoms of conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, indigestion, and acid reflux.
-
Immunity and prevention: homeopathic treatment is also used to enhance general health and immunity, potentially preventing the development of illnesses and allergies.
It is best to use homeopathy in chronic cases where conventional medicine does not offer a cure, but only amelioration of symptoms. Homeopathy does not cure loss of organs, limbs, or any disease where there is irreversible loss of tissue (such as diabetes, but it can decrease necessary amount of insulin).
Homeopathy can be used in complicated and dangerous diseases like cancer but only in conjunction with conventional medicine and under the strict guidance of a professional doctor. Even if homeopathy can’t cure your disease, it is still effective in the general amelioration of symptoms, decrease of pain, and improvement of overall energy and wellbeing.
3
What are the benefits of homeopathic treatment compared to other healing practices?
Homeopathic treatment offers several unique benefits that distinguish it from conventional medicine and other alternative healing practices:
-
No side effects: homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances and are potentized to such a degree that they are non-toxic. This makes them safe for all ages, from infants to the elderly, without the risk of severe side effects often associated with prescription drugs. Remedies are gentle, non-addictive, and do not lead to dependency.
-
Addresses root causes: homeopathy does not merely suppress symptoms. Instead, it aims to address the underlying causes of illness, promoting recovery from the inside out. This holistic approach helps in achieving lasting health improvements.
-
Tailored to each person: unlike conventional medicine, which often uses a one-size-fits-all approach for symptoms and diseases, homeopathy is highly individualized. A homeopath selects a remedy based on a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s physical symptoms, emotional state, and overall health history.
-
Enhances vitality: by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes, homeopathy enhances overall vitality and well-being, reducing susceptibility to future illness.
-
Cost-effective: homeopathic remedies are generally inexpensive compared to many prescription medications and long-term medical treatments required for chronic conditions under conventional care.
-
Complementary therapy: Homeopathy can be used alongside conventional treatments and other forms of alternative medicine. It works harmoniously with other therapies and can support overall treatment goals without interfering with other medications.
-
Environmental impact: The production of homeopathic remedies has a low environmental footprint compared to the manufacturing of many conventional drugs, which often involve complex chemical processes and can generate hazardous waste. Homeopathy is completely natural and safe.
4
Is homeopathic treatment safe?
Homeopathic treatment is widely recognized for its safety and minimal risk of side effects. This form of treatment uses remedies made from natural substances, including plants, minerals, and animals, which are highly diluted to the point where they are considered non-toxic. It is suitable for infants, children, adults, the elderly, people with lethal and dangerous diseases, and those during labor and breastfeeding.
A correctly selected homeopathic remedy usually causes what is known as "aggravation", which can make existing symptoms worse for a very short period of time. This can increase pain and other unpleasant symptoms, but usually indicates that the selected remedy was correct, and that relief from the disease will soon follow.
What can make homeopathy unsafe is its use without prior consultation with a conventional medicine doctor. This is because an untrained person cannot make a diagnosis to be sure he doesn't require emergency help or need surgery. It can also be unsafe if used instead of vitally necessary drugs; homeopathy should be used only as a complement to such conditions if you want to avoid putting your life at risk. Although effective, the selection of a remedy, even by an experienced homeopath, may require time with trial-and-error — a time which, in the case of a very serious disease, can cause severe damage to your organism.
5
How to administer homeopathic remedies?
In general, homeopathic remedies can be administered in any way that allows them to interact with the body's fluids. They are typically administered orally, intravenously, by inhalation, or applied topically (for ointments). The most common and safest method is oral administration. Ointments are often used for traumas, bruises, burns, etc., but oral administration might suffice.
Remember, it is necessary to avoid using any prohibited substances during homeopathic treatment, such as coffee, or other drugs. The administration of sugar pills should not be done with bare hands or metal objects; it is advisable to use a plastic spoon. The container with the remedy must be stored away from electrical or magnetic devices and should not be exposed to direct light or heat; ideally, it should be kept at room temperature.
6
What is prohibited during homeopathic treatment?
A homeopathic remedy may lose its efficacy if the patient is influenced by the following factors:
-
Coffee and caffeinated beverages.
-
Mint and camphor. Menthol and camphor, which are found in certain toothpastes, cough drops, and ointments. Patients are usually advised to use alternatives that do not contain these ingredients.
-
Excessive tobacco and alcohol.
-
Strong aromatic substances. Strong odors such as those from paint, recreational drugs, or aromatic oils.
-
Dietary restrictions. Depending on the individual’s condition and the specific remedy prescribed, there may be additional dietary restrictions, especially in cases of allergies.
-
Over-the-counter and prescription medications. Some medications may impact the efficacy of homeopathic remedies, and you may need to adjust your treatment plan accordingly. It is crucial to inform your homeopath about any prescription drugs you use, as your treatment plan may need to be adjusted accordingly.
-
Stress. A lifestyle associated with excessive stress can cause homeopathic remedies to work less efficiently.
-
Any substances that influence the nervous system might also negatively affect the treatment.
Generally, the most important factor to avoid is coffee and caffeinated beverages. Other factors usually do not have significant importance if the selected remedy is correct. Be sure to strictly follow your homeopath’s instructions regarding prohibited substances to achieve the best effect.
7
Can I combine homeopathic treatment and other healing practices, including conventional doctors and pharmaceutical drugs?
Yes, you can easily combine homeopathy with any other healing practice or doctor. However, it is important not to mix homeopathic remedies with substances that may affect their efficacy. Always consult and strictly follow your homeopath’s advice on this matter. In cases of severe or dangerous diseases, it is absolutely essential to consult with a conventional medicine doctor.
8
How long does it take to see results from homeopathic treatment?
The time it takes to see results from homeopathic treatment can vary significantly depending on the nature of the condition being treated, the overall health of the individual, and the specific remedy used. Homeopathy is a holistic approach that considers the entire individual—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Factors influencing treatment duration:
-
Nature of the condition: acute conditions, such as colds, minor injuries, or temporary allergies, may respond quickly to homeopathic remedies, often within hours to days. Chronic conditions, which include long-standing health issues like arthritis, chronic anxiety, or ongoing digestive problems, typically require a longer period to show significant improvements, often weeks to months.
-
Individual health and vitality: the overall health and resilience of a person can affect how quickly they respond to homeopathy. Individuals with stronger vitality may experience faster results.
-
Correctness of the remedy: the efficacy of homeopathic treatment heavily depends on selecting the correct remedy that matches all the symptoms and characteristics of the patient. A precisely chosen remedy can lead to quicker and more effective results.
While some may see improvements quickly, it's important to have realistic expectations and patience with homeopathic treatment, especially for chronic conditions. Regular communication with your homeopath is essential to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.
Remember, homeopathy works at a deep level to restore health and balance holistically. The duration of treatment varies, but the goal is always to achieve lasting health improvements rather than quick fixes.

Can I use homeopathic medicine to heal myself or my family?
The best possible outcome when using homeopathy is to always consult with a professional homeopath. This recommendation stems not only from the need for experience in applying this method correctly but also because you might be biased or overlook your own symptoms, especially if they are mental or emotional. Even professional homeopaths are advised to consult with their peers regarding their own health. You can book an online consultation with a professional on our Consultation page.
At the same time, in cases of difficult, long-standing chronic diseases, it may be beneficial to study homeopathy and the homeopathic repertory yourself. This approach can be advantageous because you might describe your symptoms in ways that are not always obvious to a homeopath. Some symptoms or conditions might be omitted during the consultation as they seem unnecessary or ordinary, only to later discover that they are key indicators pointing to the correct remedy. Be sure to inform your homeopath if you plan to study homeopathy yourself, as some practitioners may not support this practice.
For acute conditions or general wellness, studying homeopathy yourself can be a practical approach to treating yourself or your family. You can find our online homeopathic courses on Courses page.

How do I choose the right homeopathic remedy?
Choosing the right homeopathic remedy is best done by a professional homeopath. If you plan to select a remedy yourself after studying homeopathy, you can use our homeopathic Repertory. This tool offers access to various Materia Medica, providing descriptions of all remedies and featuring a user-friendly interface to compare them.
11
What is potency in homeopathy and which one should I choose?
In homeopathy, potency refers to the strength of a remedy. It indicates the degree of dilution that a basic substance has undergone during its preparation. The higher the potency, the greater the dilution and, consequently, the stronger the remedy's effect on the organism.
Potencies are typically denoted by numbers followed by letters, such as 6X, 30C, 1M, 10LM, etc., where the number indicates the number of times the substance has been diluted and succussed (shaken), and the letter denotes the dilution scale used. 'X' (sometimes called 'D') corresponds to a 1:10 dilution of the basic substance, 'C' is for 1:100, 'M' stands for 1000 times the 'C' dilution, and 'LM' potency uses a 1:50000 dilution.
Higher potencies tend to initiate a more severe and lengthy aggravation of the patient's symptoms, but also speed up the process of healing with the correctly chosen remedy. In general, use higher potencies (200C and above) for chronic diseases and lower potencies for acute diseases, traumas, and in chronic cases where severe aggravation could pose lethal danger, such as with elderly patients. Remember that the choice of potency is highly dependent on the specifics of each patient's case and can vary.

What is classical homeopathy and why is it important?
Classical homeopathy, in contrast to other approaches, focuses on administering only one homeopathic remedy at a time, allowing the organism substantial time to restore itself. This approach involves waiting for the symptoms of the disease to disappear, or for new, less severe symptoms to emerge.
By using classical homeopathy, we can ensure that any changes are the result of our chosen remedy. This allows us to analyze the new state of the organism, evaluate the person's level of health, determine the next required remedy, and make a comprehensive prognosis of the homeopathic treatment. This process can often achieve mathematical precision.
In contrast, non-classical homeopathy methods typically involve administering multiple remedies simultaneously, which can create chaos within the organism. While non-classical approaches may quickly alleviate symptoms, they often result only in the suppression of the disease, leading to a recurrence with more severe symptoms. It is widely acceptable by classical homeopaths to prescribe multiple remedies in acute, but not in chronic cases.
13
How are homeopathic remedies made?
Homeopathic remedies are crafted through a unique process known as potentization. This method involves serial dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking). Starting with a substance often derived from plants, minerals, or animals, it is first dissolved in a solvent (usually water or alcohol). The solution is then diluted many times in a step-by-step process, with each step followed by succussion.
This technique enhances the therapeutic properties of the original substance while minimizing its physical side effects. Each homeopathic remedy is prepared to target specific symptoms and is used within the framework of holistic treatment, aiming to stimulate the body's natural healing processes.
